Today marks the first day of Black Lives Matter in Schools Week, as well as the first day of Black History Month. For this and EVERY month, we’re offering a few resources to use in Advisory, the classroom, at home, etc.
1. Visit the The Black Lives Matter in School website. It’s amazing, listing the 13 Guiding Principles of Black Lives Matter in Schools, curricula, demands and publications. Just today, we watched Brooklyn K-8 school, Arts & Letters 305 United , integrate these demands and an activity into their whole school Morning Meeting.
2. Our Black History Makers in the US resource is free and ready to go. Four suggested activities that help students learn about, reflect on, and creatively share their knowledge of Black people making history RIGHT NOW in the US. This resource includes a link to a detailed chart of 13 Black history makers with related videos, quotes and other resources. Below is an image of our resource- please click on the above link or here to use!
