Sadé Dinkins, M.A. Career Readiness Director

 

Sadé is a PowerTools’ Career Readiness Director. She builds the capacity of members of NYC BlocPower Civilian Climate Corps to successfully thrive in careers in construction and green energy trades. The NYC BlocPower Civilian Climate Corps, of which PowerTools is a principal partner organization, is an environmental justice employment initiative that serves up to 2500 people from areas of NYC with the highest rates of gun violence. This green energy employment program certifies participants in OSHA 30 plus SST, offers job training in construction and other green energy fields, while compensating participants for their training and on-site experience.

Sadé is a Staten Island native with a passion for community, education, and advocacy. With an educational background in African American History, Visual & Media Studies, and Education, she has developed a deep devotion to sociopolitical justice, collective healing, and utilizing art & history to imagine and create inclusive futures. In addition to her role at PowerTools, Sadé is an educator and community organizer. Apart from classroom teaching, she has created spaces of co-learning around the topics of Afrofuturism, Womanist Theory + Intersectionality, Hip Hop, and more. Her goal is to be a resource to her community in any way she can!

Sadé has a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts in African & African American Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Visual & Media Studies from Duke University=. She also has a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from Relay Graduate School of Education.
